In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach, tailored to each of my client's individual needs and assist them to achieve the personal growth and healing they are striving for.

Typically, I provide individual therapy with clients aged 18 years and older.  I am always flexible when circumstances present themselves that require exceptions to be considered, such as when working with a family where it becomes evident that one of the younger children would benefit from individual treatment sessions.  In these cases, I  will, with input from family members, either choose to see the child separately myself, or in the case of very young children, I may make a referral to another child therapist in our community.  Because each family presents with unique challenges, I am happy to try to configure treatment in a way that will best meet your family's particular needs.

I have a special interest in working with young adults individually who are struggling to define themselves, their values, and their educational and career goals while navigating the pressures of daily life and sometimes difficult relationships.  For over 29 years, I have been working with adult individuals who suffered physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse as children.  As the years of my practice has moved forward, I have also had an abundance of individual clients who have come to me when in the midst of some type of major life transition, be it a job or career change, adoption, divorce, separation, death of a spouse or loved one, financial loss, etc.

Working with couples in relationship therapy is another of my special interests.   In 21st Century America, life presents tremendous and complicated demands on individuals and far too often damage to the couple relationship is a result.  Managing the effects of communication problems, sexual desire differences, infidelity, financial difficulties, substance abuse, etc. can greatly strain a couple's relationship and without help, permanent damage can occur.  If you are having problems in your partner relationship and want to preserve its integrity, I will offer you my best knowledge and assistance to create a path to recovery.  If you have come to the conclusion that you want to end your relationship, I will assist you and your partner accomplishing that in the least damaging and most loving way possible.

I have worked with many families over the years and have yet to meet one that would not benefit from family therapy at some point along the way.  Each member of a family, no matter how old, encounters stresses as a part of their daily life.  Those stresses are brought back to the family home, and when one person is suffering, the impact is felt by every family member.  Multiply that scenario by the number of family members, and it isn't hard to imagine how potentially explosive things can become.  In families, we often don't take the time, or don't know how to nurture honest, respectful expression of feelings with one another, so instead we "act" instead of "articulate."  While family therapy is very challenging because there are so many individuals with often competing needs and desires, my experience is that when it is successful, it can be not only life changing for all, but can be one of the most long-term rewarding experiences in the family's life.

Whether you are struggling with some sort of individual concern(s), or are having difficulties managing the demands required of being in a couple or family relationship, I would be pleased to assist you and share with you what I've learned in my practice over the past 29 years.  If you are struggling with something that I haven't specifically spoken to here and would like to consult with me as to whether or not  I feel I would be an appropriate resource for you prior to an initial appointment, please give me a call and I will be happy to discuss that with you.
